In this context, that in accordance with relevant provisions of the Act and in support of ongoing activities in all industrial facilities containing hazardous chemicals are required to report to the Ministry.
As a manufacturer or handler of dangerous substances in Turkey your establishment has notified those dangerous substances into the Ministry of the Environment’s Seveso database and based upon the substance(s) potential risk and volume you fall within scope of the legislation and are categorized as a lower or upper tier Seveso establishment.
The Seveso II Regulation is aimed at the prevention of major accidents at manufacturing and handling sites which involve dangerous substances and the limitation of their consequences for man and environment, with a view to ensuring high levels of protection in a consistent and effective manner. Furthermore the legislation requires demonstration of compliance to the competent authorities via means of a safety report (or major accident prevention policy) which are not only very demanding and complex involving many hundreds of hours of effort from company management, technical resources, and operating staff but requires specific risk assessment knowledge and project management skills.
